A Basic LERT Training Class will be held at Faith Viera Lutheran Church in Rockledge, FL on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Participants will be introduced to the LCMS Disaster Response Program and learn the basic nature of disasters, the opportunities to respond to personal needs in such disasters, and how we as Christians can support families, congregations, and the public – being the hands and feet of Jesus during trying times.
A registration fee of $35 per person covers the cost of breakfast snacks, lunch, other snacks, training materials, and a LERT t-shirt. Please make your check out to Faith Viera Lutheran Church. Pre-registration is needed in order to have supplies on hand. Please register by May 7, 2022.
The training event begins at 9 am and goes through 3 pm, on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Please arrive by 8:30 am to complete registration and to sign in for the training.
Lunch will be provided.
There will be three main sections which we will be covering:
1) An introduction to the LCMS Disaster Response program
2) Congregation preparedness: I’m a trained LERT volunteer…. now what?
3) Lutheran Early Response Teams: Who we are, what we do and why, and how we function.
Adults and youth 14 years and older are welcome to attend this LERT training and will receive certification as LCMS LERT volunteers. Youth volunteers will need to be connected with adults on any deployment.
You will receive your certificate of participation, volunteer ID card, and T-shirt from your LERT Trainer following the training.
