Rev. Dr. Gerald Kieschnick spoke to the delegates, guests, and staff, focusing the future on Jesus. President Walton brought his wife Terry to the stage to acknowledge and celebrate Kieschnick’s 52 years of service to the Lutheran church. LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison reported updates from the Synod and answered questions from delegates in the room. Rev. Dr. Reed Lessing, Professor of Theology and Ministry at Concordia University, St. Paul, and Director of the Center for Biblical Studies, guided the delegates and guests during daily devotions. His passion for the outdoors, cars, and Christ was evident to all. Dr. Ben Haupt, Associate Provost and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Haupt talked to delegates about his teaching and writings, including translations, essays, and his Ph.D. dissertation, ”Tertullian’s Text of the New Testament Outside the Gospels.”
Lutheran Bible Translators, represented by Rev. Dr. Brent Smith, Executive Development Officer, was the recipient of offerings totaling $3,072. Dr. Jim Sanft, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Concordia Plans, spoke of the partnership with the District that focuses on the health and wellness of workers.
